How to Wake Up Early & Have a Successful Meditation
If you’ve ever tasted the sweetness of rising early and being awake before the rest of the world, it’s something you hold dear to your heart.
The early morning hours, between 2-5am are a golden time to meditate and experience deep peace. It’s when the souls around you are sleeping, and the atmosphere is very still and peaceful.
The only problem is that sometimes… it’s not easy to wake up early.
The art of rising early is something we’ve experimented with for many years and observed both the pitfalls and also the successes.
We’d like to share some of these with you today. We hope these techniques serve you, and support you in rising early and having a successful morning meditation practice.
If you’ve been wanting to have a consistent early morning meditation practice, but have been struggling to wake up… this article is for you.
What habits make rising early difficult?
The Pitfalls (What not to do):
-Going to sleep late
-Eating late
-Putting your phone/alarm right by your bed
-Enabling the snooze option on your phone/alarm
-Waking and then meditating while in the dark, still in your pajamas
What habits make rising early easy?
The Successes (What to do):
-Getting to sleep as early as possible
-Placing your phone/alarm away from your bed where you can’t reach it, but can still hear it (you need to get up to get it)
-Eating a light meal before bed
-Upon waking, having a wake-up routine before meditating – (Such as turn on lights, shower, dress, make tea). (You can’t expect to stay awake in the early morning if you don’t properly wake your body up).
-Having your morning meditation spot already set up and comfortable (figure this out in advance so you don’t have to think about it in the morning).
These tips may sound obvious, and they are, however we can often forget to take these simple steps to wake up early. By keeping the pitfalls in mind and avoiding them, while following the success practices, you can easily shift from struggling to wake up and keep your eyes open in the early morning hours… to feeling energized, awake and peaceful as you center in to start your day.
What else do you need to keep in mind to sustain a new Early Rising Habit?
In order to keep a new habit of rising early going, we need to put conditions in place that will help us stick to it when “habit gravity” sinks in after the 3rd or 4th day. What usually happens is that we start out with grand enthusiasm and energy for a new behavior, and then a few days in… our ‘old habit gravity’ comes into play and pulls us down with it. What happens then? We resort back to our previous behaviors. We need to make it out of the habit gravity period to make a habit stick. Here are a few tips on how to do this:
1. Set up accountability with a friend. Let them know that you’re trying to create a new habit of rising early, and that you’re going to check in with them daily (a simple text message works great). Ask them to hold the space of supporting you and helping you stay with it when the going gets tough.
2. If you get tired or go to bed too late, you can always rest up a little with a nap. One of the main things you don’t want to get into with rising early is sleep deprivation. Make sure to take at least a 20 minute nap/rest the next day if you end up going to bed later than you wanted to.
3. Don’t beat yourself up if you miss a morning, just get back into your routine with love and gratitude the next day. It’s all good. Just because you fall off the horse once or twice doesn’t mean you should give up. 😉
And remember this…
Starting your day early with meditation won’t always be tea and cake. Sitting with yourself in the silence of the early morning isn’t easy, however, it does reap huge rewards as we face ourselves and transform from the inside out. Keep going with it. Even if you feel defeated and you’re facing a challenging emotion or belief system… it’s ok. Approach your self-realization time with love and compassion. Focus your mind and heart on the “Spiritual Sun” (The One, God, The Divine) and allow yourself to absorb the rays of pure peace and power. By doing this, you’ll begin your days deeply centered and the effects of this long term will completely transform and bless your life… beyond belief.

You’ll get to know yourself better. It’s like shining a magnifying glass on the inner realms of the soul. With the busy noise of the day, we can’t always listen to what’s being said inside. In the early hours, we can hear and feel our internal realm more clearly. When we know ourselves, then, we can change
You’ll experience moments of deep peace… as the mind settles down, and the atmosphere is still, you can access a level of intuition and psychic awareness that isn’t as clear in the normal waking hours of the day. It’s a time that you can actually be with yourself.
You’ll connect more deeply to the Divine. This is the most powerful time of day we can have a heart to heart meeting with our Spiritual Parent and Friend. In the quiet and stillness of the atmosphere, we can hear the voice of this One more clearly. It’s a great time to ask for guidance and share what’s in your heart. Try having a notepad handy, and write out your thoughts or inquiries with the intention of that One responding. After a short pause, you may be guided to write down a deeper level of wisdom and understanding, coming from this beloved Presence.
These early morning hours are known as the ‘hours of nectar’. It’s a time to be cherished and enjoyed for the upliftment and nourishment of the soul. It’s a time to charge the battery of the soul.

Vegetarian Bulletproof Diet (Yogi Diet Hacks)
Normally we don’t talk about health and diet. It’s just too much of a fussy topic with lots of different opinions and such. But today, 4 consecutive people asked us to coach them on health and diet (funny synchronicity), and so, we decided to write this article.
Note about the diet and fat: Arielle used to think fat was dangerous and avoided it at all costs for years, but the truth is, this is what we’ve now both found to work well for our bodies. We’ve also been vegan and raw vegan. This method can be used for both vegetarians and vegans. In the end, be true to yourself and be willing to experiment for yourself. May you discover the vibrant energy you deserve. The plan below has proven to work for us.
The Bulletproof Diet — It’s brilliant.
Praise and Blessings to Dave Asprey for doing the research and experimentation to come to understand on a deep scientific level why some thought to be “healthy” foods affect us negatively, and why high-quality fats are the best fuel ever. Thank goodness for this!

Why is the bulletproof diet so awesome? The BP diet empowers us with knowledge about which foods are high in unhealthy molds, funguses, toxins and anti-nutrients, and why high quality fats turn out to be a superior source of fuel for the body than carbohydrates. This research is fascinating and makes perfect sense, especially given the rise in obesity epidemic and other health challenges we are seeing spread like wild-fire in the collective (and even in health communities).
When we are empowered with this knowledge, we can take right action to create the healthiest, most resilient vessel possible.
What’s the catch? If you’re like us, you’re not willing to eat meat, period. A vegetarian yogi lifestyle is your Dharma.
That’s ok! Each and every soul needs to decide what type of diet is right for them, on a number of levels. No disrespect to those who choose animal meat in their diets, it’s all good. Each to their own and only you know what’s right for you.
However, if you’re reading this article right now, our guess is that you’re vegetarian/vegan and you’re also intrigued by the bulletproof diet. How to do both?
A little background: When we first started out eating ‘bulletproof’ foods (a diet high in quality fats and vegetables), we searched online typing in “vegetarian bulletproof”… to come up with nothing. We knew we’d have to hack this one ourselves.
How did we do it? After much experimentation and further research, we’ve created a Vegetarian Bulletproof Diet that really works for us. We’re posting this article because we would have loved to find it in our prior web-searching for a Vegetarian Bulletproof solution and wanted to make it easier for you.
What have the results been? Incredible. Energy, mental focus and stamina like we’ve never had physically before. We’re on a Mission to be our best. It’s top priority for us to be able to focus with a clear mind as many hours as possible each day. We’re also dedicated to rising between 2-4 am in the morning for meditation, and so figuring out the diet part and hacking our sleep and exercise has been critical for us to live our most empowered and fulfilling life here.

Here is our Vegetarian Bulletproof Diet Plan
(The Yogi hack)
For Ultimate Mental Clarity, Sustained Energy, Sattvic Energy and Success:
Foundation Staples:
Organic non-starchy vegetables: (broccoli, cauliflower, celery, cucumber, zucchini, yellow squash + olives and avocado)
Organic high quality fat: (grass-fed butter, organic ghee, mct oil, organic coconut oil)
Organic chlorella/spirulina (protein): This was the main hack. We mix the powder or tabs in with our heaping bowls of vegetables with several spoonfuls of high quality fats. It tastes wonderful and sustains you for hours. The other protein source that supports us is high quality organic whey protein powder.
A Typical Day:
Early Morning (4 am): Bulletproof Coffee (Upgraded coffee beans with 1-2 tbsp grass-fed butter and 1 tbsp mct oil or brain octane). If you’re a meditator, try this. Best meditation and focus power ever.
Breakfast: Varies. Michael will usually have oatmeal & mct oil. Arielle is currently enjoying chia seeds with hemp milk & whey or sunwarrior protein powder. You have to find for yourself what amount of carbohydrates you need to thrive.
Lunch: Steamed vegetables with healthy fat (ghee, grass-fed butter or coconut oil), sea salt, chlorella or spirulina. Additions are sometimes sprouted nuts, seeds etc.
Snack: (Varies) Decaf upgraded coffee with cacao powder, xylitol and mct oil/ tea/ dark chocolate/ protein bar (ie organic food bar protein, macrobar, no cow bar).
Dinner: Repeat… Steamed vegetables (sometimes include sweet potato and carrot more here) with healthy fat (ghee, grass-fed butter or coconut oil) sea salt, chlorella tabs, and sometimes additional toppers like sprouted nuts, tahini etc.
Evening: (As needed) Usually just some warm tea :-). A small bowl of raspberries is another nice treat.
Note: This is just a base to give you an idea. Sometimes we get more creative, but to be honest, we’re so focused that it’s not worth it to us to spend too much time on food prep and food decisions. Knowing what we’re going to eat ahead of time helps us to serve thousands of people world wide in awakening spirituality and becoming evolutionary leaders.
Note 2: Are you vegan? Here’s what you can do — just substitute the butter and ghee for coconut oil. You may also love to try mct oil. Rather than whey protein powder, fill up on the high-protein chlorella or spirulina. Good luck!
Food is awesome, but it only deserves a sliver of our time and focus. That’s why the Bulletproof diet is so awesome — you figure it out once, and you’re good to go.

The Half-Way House of the Spiritual Ego: The Plastic Spiritual Path for the Spiritual Consumer
In the old world, having the latest smartphone is an absolute must. In the halfway house having the latest spiritual tools or adornments is the new game. It’s the sacred temple for the spiritual consumer – a festival / orgy that caters nicely for those who’d prefer to be fascinated by the occult and the quick fix than take off to face their own dark side and surrender their lives to God. It’s a perfect place to be if we like the idea of a spiritual life – but we don’t want to work too hard. It’s perfect if we failed at making it in the mainstream culture and want to join a new sub-culture where, for a price we can buy the props to feel superior to others and get high on countless techniques, methods and substances that are upgrades on the usual TV, drugs and gossip.
The half-way house is highly attractive. And if we’re not careful we will get lost in it’s endless seductive illusion. In fact, we may find ourselves hanging out here more than we may like to admit because it’s so addictive.
According to David Hawkins, the spiritual seeker is often unable to tell the difference between the pseudo spiritual path and the authentic spiritual path: Looking and sounding the same, it’s easy to be drawn in by the glitz and glam of the spiritual celebrities who dominate the world. Sadly, – according to Hawkins consciousness calibration research – a vast majority of so-called spiritual teachings are lacking integrity and are even harmful to people. They lure us away from the light by the flares and fireworks of the secrets to the universe and beyond.
The Half Way house is not really even spiritual as such. It can be more accurately described as an astral circus: a place of the occult, witchcraft, black-magic, voodoo, narcissism, total reliance on astrology, obsession with crop circles, UFO’s, secret societies, astral travel and countless other tricks and fascinating tools to gain power over others while distracting ourselves from the deep inner work. The half way house is not the celestial realm of love and higher consciousness where the ego is transcended and the soul is awakened to the Divine Light of God’s love. It’s a place where the spiritual ego can buy the facade of spirituality, look the part, get the magic therapies, potions, special foods and mind altering substances. Perusing the circus we can wear the organic clothes, do the yoga classes, discover the mystery schools and be adorned with special spiritual fragrances – but without the soul becoming awakened. This is a place where the spiritual ego is alive but the soul, the Eternal Self is sedated or sleeping. The ego, can even feel so empowered it goes off charging about in altered states of intoxication, (often based on drugs or unnatural practices) healing and prophesying about various invisible realms without doing real work of surrender and transformation.
The half way house is the place for us to book an alternative vacation with a spiritual travel agent. The normal hotels, spas and restaurants are replaced with Ayahuasca and Shamanic Retreats. Now we can get a taste for other worldly experiences that make us feel like we’re different, even enlightened – for a day or a week, until the magic wears off and we’re back to our old addictions and searching. Normal wine is replaced with organic wine. Normal sex is replaced with Tantric sex as the spiritual ego happily justifies it’s indulgences as goddess pleasures. After all, doesn’t every goddess deserve the best? Doesn’t every spiritual master deserve a tantric orgasm?
The spiritual ego loves the idea that we can do anything we want, have anything we want and we are always unaffected.
But sooner or later it will all collapse and even the half-way house will no longer provide a shelter for us. Sooner or later we are all forced to go on the real path as our personal hurricanes hunt us down…
The scariest thing of all to the spiritual Ego is the true spiritual path where we stop, face ourselves and let go of all our limited beliefs, cravings and distractions through surrendering to the Higher Good for All. So the half-way house with all its highly attractive addictions lure us – glistening away in our inbox and following us around on social media. But its up to us to discard the sirens call and take the unknown path to our destiny.
It’s only by facing our darkness and taking this path straight into the peace inside the eye of the storm that we can be free.
Are you ready for that?
We must ask this question over and over again.
To free ourselves we must be willing to renounce the quick fix and jump into the abyss.
We must break the trance.
