Where It All Began 

In 2004, I was teaching meditation in a small room opposite King’s College, Cambridge University.

I had practiced every day since my spiritual awakening, and people would come in looking for peace.

But something kept happening that surprised me.

People would sit down, and within minutes they’d start opening up about their lives, their dreams, the things they felt stuck on.

They loved the meditation. But they had real problems they needed help with too.

So I started developing something new. I was helping people through deep spiritual transformation without knowing there was a name for it yet.

What I was creating would eventually become known as spiritual life coaching, now practiced by countless souls around the world. But in 2004, I hadn’t heard of anyone else doing this. There was nothing out there to guide me, so I had to figure it all out myself.

The Leap of Faith

Something inside me knew I was meant to take this further.

So I took a leap of faith, left everything behind, and moved to Hawaii with only a backpack, a heart full of dreams, and $800 to my name.

From there, I started coaching and helping people online, developing my methods as I went.

I invested over $150K in courses and trainings along the way. I learned a lot from “gurus” that didn’t work for me. So I set out to find a new, spiritual way of doing business that felt good in my heart.

And it actually worked.

Living the Dream

By 2012, I had built exactly the life our students tell us they want.

I was living on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. Breathtaking nature, beaches, and mountains all around. Total freedom to set my own schedule, travel where I liked, and spend my time doing what I loved.

My mornings were mine for meditation, yoga, and time in nature.

Then I’d come home and serve thousands of souls all over the world through coaching, courses, books, and live events. I was helping people transform their lives while getting paid $10,000 or more per client for the work I loved.

I went from a backpack and $800 to living the exact life that so many of you have written about in your intentions.

Through this journey, we realized one very important thing:

The more we help others get what they want, the more we get everything that we want.

The Questions That Changed Everything

Toward the end of that year, what started as a trickle of questions became a flood.

My students were all asking the same things:

“How can I live a spiritual life, do meaningful work, and make an abundant living?”

“How did you make it happen, and how can I do it too?”

Many of them were caring, empathic souls who naturally helped the people around them. But they had no idea how to make it a real living.

Some hated their jobs and felt the pain of going back to work that didn’t matter to them, day after day. They needed something different.

Many had tried other courses and programs, but nothing really worked. The depth and real spiritual inspiration they were looking for just wasn’t there.

40 Days of Meditation

Hearing request after request, we knew it was a sign.

Arielle and I took 40 days to meditate on it. We watched the waves crash on the shore, sat under waterfalls in the mountains, and felt the sun set over the ocean every evening.

We asked: Can we do this?Are we qualified? Why us?

I thought back to my own life before my awakening. Years of addiction and depression. Most people believing I’d never make anything of myself. Except for one person who showed up for me with love and understanding, and opened my eyes to ideas that changed my life forever.

I thought, “If more people helped others to awaken, what a beautiful world this would be.”

The Night of the Divine Light 

One night at the end of the year, we invited a special group of souls to our home for meditation and sound healing.

Toward the end, the entire room filled with a golden light. A presence of sacred energy settled over us. It filled our hearts like a waterfall of grace.

We sat, tingling, feeling as though eternal gold was resting in our hands.

The light grew brighter and brighter, and through its peace, Arielle and I both received the same message:

Empower souls as spiritual leaders. Teach the teachers.

We knew what we had to do.

And Awakened Academy was born

Creating Something That Didn’t Exist

We wanted to create the world’s only truly spiritually based coaching and leadership program.

Not a corporate coaching course with a spiritual label on it. Not a fluffy retreat with no real skills. A complete training that would take someone from where they are now to living the life they dream of, the same journey I had made myself.

We kept only what truly mattered and threw away everything that didn’t.

The Response

We shared what we had created and invited people to join.

We woke to a flood of interest. Many of them said, “This is exactly what I’ve been praying for.” One said, “This was the answer to a deep intention in my heart for many years.”

We began working with the first group right away. Their transformation was clear from the start. They had finally found something real.
