No matter what you’re going through, you can turn it around.

First of all, it’s important to not feel bad about feeling bad as that only makes it worse. Krishnamuri said, “It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society”. This means that if you’re feeling stressed out about your situation, it’s an appropriate response to the situation you are in. It’s ok to feel stressed and anxious when you don’t have the means to meet your basic needs.  You may feel worried about paying bills, buying food, eating enough and having a life that matters. The good news is you can turn this all around using the methods in this article.

I was nearly evicted and turned it around

I’ve been on the edge more than I’d like to admit. I understand what it feels like to have no money and feel confused, lost, worried about not paying rent and getting kicked out. On top of that, not eating enough food leads us to not think properly which only makes it worse. However, I have to admit that it’s been these situations that have forced me to change myself and my life and break free. I remember one time that I had no money and was worried I’d be evicted. By using the methods below I figured out not only how to pay my rent on time, but more importantly, I figured out a way to get out of the low income trap I was in that lead me to the situation. That situation forced me to make more money overall and be free from worry. So the pain of loss ended up being a blessing that helped make me wealthier.

 

Here are Top 6 Methods to Turn it All Around

 

1. There is benefit in everything.

This situation is a GIFT in disguise. Life gives us what we need in the moment (even if it’s not what we want). There really is a secret benefit in this situation and it’s helping you get to the next level. Instead of thinking it’s a problem you shouldn’t have, start asking yourself.

WHAT CAN I LEARN FROM THIS SITUATION?

HOW CAN I PROFIT FROM THIS SITUATION?

WHAT IS THIS SITUATION FORCING ME TO DO OR CHANGE?

HOW CAN I USE THIS SITUATION TO TURN MY LIFE AROUND FOR THE BETTER?

When you flip the situation around and start seeing it as a blessing in disguise, and a gift, you can start to relax.

Mantra:

I am in the perfect place at the perfect time.

I can benefit from this. This situation is making me better.

Make note of any ideas that come into your mind after asking these questions. Keep asking them until you get some new ideas that will support you.

 

2. I am surrendered to the highest good for all.

I can’t tell you how much this mantra has made a difference in my life. When you truly surrender to whatever is the highest good in life, you come out of ego and go into a new state of power and freedom. The ego thinks it knows what’s best and has a plan about what it wants to happen in life. But the ego is limited, narcissistic and has no idea about millions of awesome things outside of its little window that it looks through into the world. In fact, there are so many possibilities, it’s mind-blowing.

When you truly are surrendered to whatever is the greatest benefit for you and others, you come into a zone of power where the magic happens and new opportunities open up.

It was after I truly surrendered to the highest good that I received money and ideas to pay my bills and get out of a dire financial situation. That money and those ideas were NOT the things I was normally thinking about. If I’d stayed in the confines of my ego I would have remained trapped, broke and unable to see a way out.

The key here is to deeply surrender. This means to let go and release control and be open to stand in a ray of power, like a beam of light where you surrender your life, your mind, your body and your wealth to doing, thinking and using your money on the things that are truly the highest good for all. This means you will act in NEW ways and open to new ideas.

It may mean getting a new job. It may mean moving to a new home. It may mean doing a spiritual practice, calling someone, working on a project, doing a talk or all kinds of things. But to be surrendered means to be willing to choose differently and act in new ways. It feels liberating and rejuvenating.

 

3. Eat properly so you can feel better and act rationally.

I get it. When you’re stressed and anxious (and don’t have extra time or money) food can become the last thing on the list. But if we don’t eat right, we can’t think clearly or act effectively. We become irrational, over-emotional and can cause ourselves a lot of problems. I made this mistake many times and would just spin out with low blood sugar and wonder why nothing changed. One day I decided to go to the store and invest in food to fuel my thinking and creativity. I couldn’t believe how much better I felt once I had enough to eat and my blood sugar levels stabilized! It was like going from living in a dilapidated factory trying to write down my ideas on a blackboard in the dark, to entering into a beautiful, clean, well-lit creative studio with everything I could need to create million dollar plans and them implement them.

We need fuel to function properly. Eat well. Ideally, foods that don’t give you a blood sugar crash (avoid white sugars and refined carbs etc.).

When you’ve drank enough water and eaten well, you’ll feel much more capable to change things in your life.

 

4. Get Plenty of R&R: Rest and Relaxation

 When we’re stressed we can feel like there is no time for rest and relaxation. But being in a panic and running around like a headless chicken is not a good idea. In fact, when we look back on all that frantic thinking and spinning, it’s pretty obvious that it’s more of a problem than a solution. To get inspired ideas and to act effectively, we need to relax and rest well. All athletes know that if they don’t eat right and get adequate rest, they won’t be able to perform at their highest potential. To avoid rest is not smart, it’s self-sabotage.

How can you get better rest?

Here are some ideas.

Go to sleep earlier.
Have baths with sea salts and essential oils
Do meditation or yoga
Read a book

The more you feel relaxed and peaceful, the better everything is.

 

5. The power of vision & your subconscious mind

The previous steps are all designed to help you feel better and open your genius mind up to new ideas. Once you have an idea of what you want, you can then use the power of your mind to create change.

For example, if you want more money and time, you can simply use this method to find the next steps to make it happen.

  • Imagine yourself with what you want and feel good about it (eg. more money and the ability to pay bills, feeling contented).

You can do this while you’re in the bath or while you’re dozing off to sleep feeling peaceful. The important thing here is to feel good about this vision. See it as a fun game, something you do just for fun to make you feel better. If you don’t feel good about your vision, then stop. Change the vision or your attitude towards it until you do feel good about it. The key thing is to imagine this new reality as if it’s happening now, in the present and feel happy, content and strong about it.

  • Don’t worry about HOW to do it.

Your subconscious mind is a manifesting machine. When you hold a vision in your mind with feeling, it gives an order to your subconscious mind to make it so. This means a deeper part of you will begin working towards achieving that vision, it will scan the entire, vast resources of all your experiences, connections, possibilities and tune into a situation you have no idea about to bring forth ideas that will support the unfoldment of that desire.

  • Listen for ideas and notice clues

The more you surrender to the highest good for all and hold the vision of what you want, the more ideas and subtle insights will emerge in your conscious mind. Take note! You may find yourself looking online for new jobs, you may feel compelled to offer a free talk, to reach out to an old friend or go into a shop.  Follow the guidance, you never know how these ideas may lead you to something else, which lead to something else and then all of a sudden you’ve figured it all out and got what you wanted. Life is a bizarre adventure and our journey doesn’t go in a straight line. It’s wiggly, wobbly and weird. Once you accept this, you can go with the new ideas more easily and trust in the process.

 

6. Take action on your ideas now

Once you have clear ideas on what to do, take action NOW. Don’t wait around. Make the call. Go for the job interview. Advertise your work. Get the client. Do what is needed. To make a change, we need a shift in mindset and in action. But not action in the sense of just running around like a headless chicken. Act from a place of inspiration and power. Try new things, explore new opportunities.

Once you know what you want, take action, and keep moving towards you goal. It’s actually quite fun when you get on board and take command of your life.

Also, the more you eat well, take baths, go for walks, rest and renew in these types of ways, the more you’ll get ideas and guidance to make sure you’re on the right track with your actions.

What will happen if you do this?

Once you do this, you will feel better right now and begin to feel hope and even excitement. You’ll tap into the magic of life, and embrace your own inner power. You’ll begin to notice new opportunities in your life and sooner or later, find yourself in a NEW situation and look back on this time with a smile.

your inner self
Most of us spend our whole lives avoiding ourselves
It’s written into our culture:
Don’t look within
Don’t spend time alone
Don’t just be in silence
This is the brainwashing we get
Yet,
What if we’re missing out
on the most precious connection and relationship
of all time?
The relationship with ourselves…
The real reason
for the epidemic of depression, anxiety and various illnesses
is actually a lack of self awareness
self realization
connection to one’s own self
When we are disconnected from our core,
from who we are
a myriad of all types of dis-ease emerge
Disease is just that – dis-ease
Lack of ease in ourselves
due to lack of self awareness
If I think, “I am this body,”
I’m going to suffer
I’ll be tense
uneasy
This body is perishable
It’s made of organic material
that will eventually die and decay
If I think this body is “me”
then of course I will feel depressed, anxious and sad
If I realize the real, “me”, though
I will feel free
eternal
peaceful
serene
The real “me”
is the one who looks through these eyes
listens through these ears
and operates this body
Without the real “me”
the being of consciousness
the being of light
this body has no life

Getting to know yourself, your inner self, is time well spent. It’s the most loving thing you can do for yourself. Let go of the cultural brainwashing to do, do, do, and take some time to just be, be, be.

If you already know about Mercury Retrograde, you know it can be a frustrating time of year where all your communication seems to go awry and none of your plans seems to quite work out right. It’s just when things start falling apart when you decided to check – and YES, it IS Mercury Retrograde again!

Maybe you’re having cell phone problems, your computer can start doing weird things, people just don’t ‘get you’ and communication challenges arise like crazy.

The good news it that if we embrace this time, then we can use it as a powerful opportunity for growth, tidying up old messes and re-assessing what’s really important –  and what’s not so we can move forward with newfound clarity and power.

But if we ignore this time – we’re probably going to have a frustrating few weeks!

I never used to believe in Mercury Retrograde until I finally discovered that during these times the same communication issues would arise over and over again. After a while I got the message and now instead of fighting against it – I embrace Mercury Retrograde to support me in my life.

What is Mercury Retrograde?

 

Mercury, being the planet closest to the Sun has an orbit that’s much shorter than Earth’s – speeding past our planet three to four times in each year.

When Mercury is retrograde, the other planets in our solar system seem to be travelling backward through the zodiac. This actually an illusion. To understand it, imagine driving down the highway near a train track seeing a train high speed train whooshes past you. Now imagine being in the train looking back at the car on the road. If you were in the train it would appear the car was moving or receding backward – but this is an optical illusion just like mercury retrograde.

Notice recurring themes and tidy up old messes!

Most of us have done things that are unresolved and messy. Now’s the time to tidy them up and fix them.

This means tidying up our relationships, work, business, finances and of course, our homes.

What patterns and themes keep coming up over and over again for you to look at?

Mercury Retrograde is the perfect time to slow down and face yourself and your life.

For the next few weeks take the time to go back and have a good look at various themes that are coming up once again for review.  This could be relationship, money, health or career issues. What is most pressing for you?

We know that we’ve been here before, but like a cycle something’s different about it this time. What is your life trying to tell you? It may be your career is leading you to a different direction, a new business endeavor, an opportunity to travel, finding another house, switching who you spend your money with and buying new things or changing your relationships.

Whatever it is, your past is coming back into your awareness, but in a different way for you to review. Instead of reacting and making hasty decisions, this time we have to slow down and take our time to discuss things within ourselves and other people before making any decisions or changes.

 

Back up your stuff!

Mercury Retrograde is probably most renowned for creating havoc with communications technology. Now’s a good time to back up your computer, phone and anything else you need. I remember someone told me to do this once mercury retrograde – but I ignored them and the next day my harddrive crashed. Another retrograde my debit cards stopped working, and of course the cell phone has had it’s fair share of weirdness during this time. So back stuff up and relax.

 

Avoid making serious decisions

Mercury Retrograde  is a time of reflection, not a time for decisions and launching projects.

That’s why during this time we are advised to avoid making long term commitments, starting new projects, signing contracts and jumping into things without really thinking them through (and waiting until mercury retrograde is over).

If things can wait after the retrograde, then put them off. Take this time to review, discuss and plan more and avoid doing something that may change the course of your life.

If a decision has to be made during the retrograde, have a Plan B ready if anything comes up after the retrograde or even much later.

An exception to the above is if it involves someone from your past: for example it’s not advised to jump into a new relationship during a retrograde, but if it is with someone who re-enters your life, it could prove to be promising.  Likewise, signing a contract to start a new job is not ideal, however if you had a previous relationship with your new employer in some capacity before, this is perfectly acceptable.

Just keep in mind, agreements made during a retrograde likely will need to be renegotiated down the road. Stay open to that possibility and it will prevent you from being disappointed if it happens.

So what can you do?

Here’s the things that can be useful.

Open the door to the past to reconnect with people who you have unresolved stuff with and have those hard conversations and heal old wounds. It’s time to connect and communicate.

Correct past mistakes and come to terms with things that didn’t work out. Maybe you have a job application that was rejected, a house that you didn’t get, a relationship that went sour. If there’s is nothing you can do – then just finally close the lid and say goodbye. Truly let it go. If you can make things better – then make them better.

Make the most of what the Mercury Retrograde may bring to you. You may have to postpone a plan for something better. Observe, see what happens and learn. Then ask yourself:  if there’s no more tomorrow, what would you be doing differently today?

Is Facebook using you or are you using Facebook?

 

Imagine going onto facebook – you see the red notifications – post updates and you see what others are doing. It all seems quite nice and friendly. It appears that Facebook is providing YOU with this wonderful platform to connect with friends and keep in touch.

 

But is that what is really going on?

Social media is smoke and mirrors – it masquerades as a valuable service to us – but its motives are not transparent nor is our relationship with them.

Facebook is a big corporate company like many others. It is made up of office buildings, cubicles and corporate hierarchy etc, like other big corporations.

 

Hanging out at Facebook is like spending many hours a day on a computer in a cubicle – yet unpaid.

 

It’s like working in a factory for free!

 

Except we do it in our spare time, working virtually.

 

The difference between Facebook and traditional media is that on Facebook, there is no readership in general, but there is an algorithmic labour and production within the Facebook Factory which allows them to profile and sell each user as a different product.

 

The readership (YOU) are the product and the audience is the advertiser.

 

I am an advertiser on Facebook because there are people there who want what I have.

 

Just because your friends are on crackbook in the factory staring at their screens sending emojis – it doesn’t mean you have to join them in their unpaid toil for big business.

 

In fact , would it be better if you went to the factory to join all the other people wasting their time, or would it be better to call your friends who are in hypnotic trance in the factory and tell them:

 

“Hey! It’s a great day here! How about come up for the day, we can go for a swim or a hike or hang out and talk, do meditation, or just be fully present with each other etc.”

If you’re an empathic being you are probably a highly sensitive being, too. Sensitive people often find themselves feeling super stressed out, even panicked in social situations – thus causing social anxiety especially in situations where there are loads of unfamiliar people, with a lot going on all at once. It can overwhelm you to the point where the mere idea of having to talk with a new person may feel paralyzing. It can make you want to just run from it all and go hide!

Well, it doesn’t have to be that way! So, how to overcome social anxiety? Let’s talk about what’s causing social anxiety first.

What Causes Social Anxiety?

how to overcome social anxietySo much of what we experience in a state of anxiety may seem uber real at the time. But, in actuality, much of what we find ourselves feeling anxious or even afraid of has little to do with the present moment.

Let’s examine this. What are some of the thoughts that go through our minds when we are starting to stress out say at a party: “Will anyone really want to talk to me?” “I never know what to say when people want to know more about me. I’m just not that interesting.” “Everyone else looks so much cooler than me! Why did I wear these clothes?”  “What if I make a fool of myself?” “I can’t breathe, I’m so freaked out!”

Most of this negative self-talk has little to do with anything that is happening in real time, but more to do with projecting a lot of ‘what-ifs’ about the future, what-ifs that are often related to things that have happened in the past. And, ‘what-ifs’ rarely come to pass unless we set ourselves up that way. By constantly projecting negative, self-disparaging thoughts – even if just inside our own minds, we can create a self-fulfilling prophecy that might otherwise have been averted had we chosen to stay focused in the present.

 

What Can You Do to Overcome Panic?

Breathe!

One of the first things that we can actually take control of in the here and now is our breathing. When we are freaked out the  ‘fright or flight’ response kicks in, and our breathing becomes very rapid and shallow. The remedy to this is to simply tune in to our breathing and to consciously take several long, gentle, deep breaths so that our parasympathetic nervous system can bring our heart rate back down, and regulate our breathing to where we can feel calm and grounded again.

Rehearse

Even before arriving at a potentially dreadful social gathering, we can follow our deep breathing with an empowering dress rehearsal of sorts.

What I mean by that is, rather than allowing our fears to conjure up all sorts of possible negative outcomes, we can practice calling to mind the memory of our most loving and safe social experiences. In this way we are forearmed and prepared if and when our anxiety starts to kick in.

Look past your fear!

Now, I know you have heard the expression, “Face your fear” before. I think most of us have. But, what does it really mean? And, how does looking your fear dead in the eye help you to see anything other than, well, your fear?

It is perhaps more helpful to think in terms of looking through the fear, or past it to find what lies beyond it. You might be very pleasantly surprised by what you find.

We Are Mirrors For One Another

While you may feel hyper-sensitive about the vibes people may be picking up about you, everyone else in the room is giving off vibes of their own. Each one of us has a story to tell, and we are telling our story all the time through the  vibrational energy we are broadcasting in any given situation.

If we are freaking out at a party full of people we have only just met, worried that they might feel we are ‘less than’, ‘uninteresting’, ‘too fat’, ‘too thin’, ‘too quiet’, ‘too loud’….not only are we projecting the very energy we don’t want to attract, we are also keeping ourselves from seeing anything but!

By  choosing to simply breathe, to remember the love inside, and to silently look out beyond our own stuff, we’ll see for instance that Sally over there is desperately trying to get John’s attention while broadcasting that she believes herself unworthy of it by the way she constantly fusses with her clothes and hair. Or, we’ll notice that Peter over there has had a few drinks too many, and is talking way too loud to compensate for the fact that no one is really paying him any mind, because his vibe is projecting that ‘no one is ever interested’ in what he has to say, and so on, and so on.

We all have our stories. We all have our fears. And, we all project our stories in more ways than we know. So, if we look past our stories out into the world, what will we see?  Ourselves!

Look Deeper

You are an empathic soul, right?…a sensitive, caring being despite all of your fears and anxieties. What if you were to silently acknowledge that everyone else around you is also a loving, caring, sensitive entity despite what your five senses tell you about them, despite what they may be broadcasting to the contrary?

And, what if you were to quietly imagine, even to rehearse for every Sally, John and  Peter in the room, a warm, loving memory in essence just like the one you rehearsed for yourself before coming to this crazy party? What if you were to inwardly identify and come to the rescue not only of your own sensitive inner self, but of everyone in the room?!

It is so easy to do! We just have to look past our drama to a place that exists within each one of us to find the magic!

The Powerful, Simple Cure for Social Anxiety

Love is the Answer

So how exactly do we look past ‘stuff’, the drama, the anxiety and pain? What if we really don’t like someone? What if we really, really don’t like someone?! Well, the good news is that love is indeed the answer! And, what is even better news is that everyone, no matter who they are has love at the center of their being!

Fundamentally we all know this, however difficult it may be to admit. Do you want to know how you can not only see the love in anyone, but also feel love for anyone?

Love is Energy

When we understand that we are each made up of consciousness, of energy vibrating at different frequencies we create an opening for the realization that although we appear to be different from one another, we are all essentially made of the same stuff!

Here’s an experiment to try for yourself. The next time you are in a room with a bunch of people you don’t really know, choose to remain predominantly silent and observant. Then, begin visualizing the inner source of love energy that exists at the heart of each person there. Choose to look past all appearances, past their ‘story’ directly to the love within, and bless this essential essence of who they truly are. Bless them, and bless them some more. Focus all of your energy on being absolutely loving toward them. Practice knowing that they, like you, are actually spiritual beings doing the best they can while inhabiting physical 3-D bodies. Then, watch what happens!

Give Blessings

Remember, because we are essentially made up of energy, we are constantly ‘vibing’  at various frequencies depending on where we put our moment-by-moment focus. Most important to remember is that we are all loving, compassionate souls at our source with an innate desire to express and share from our hearts – whether we are consciously aware of it, or not.

So, here you are, silently repeating your loving mantra for the benefit of those around you: “May you be happy. May you be well!” – or, something to that effect – and suddenly you’re aware of how wonderfully calm you feel. Your anxiety levels have measurably dropped, you’re far less self-absorbed in fear-based thought. In fact, your entire energy field is now vibrating at a much higher frequency. Not only that, but the energetic resonance of the entire room has risen, as well!

Let this be truly okay! Allow your heart to shine through your eyes, through your smile, and through your calm stillness. Continue with this simple, yet not “little” exercise, and you will have almost achieved your goal of being angst-free in a social gathering. I say almost because the circuit is incomplete at this stage.

Let’s take it a little deeper.

Receive Blessings

The greatest blessing we can possibly offer another human soul is that of being truly open and present for them. There are two ways that you can do this:

  1. Be silent and bless them with all your heart.
  2. Be open to receiving the blessings that come back atcha!

The key to understanding all of this is that we are not bubbles isolated unto ourselves. We’re all connected! And, fundamentally, we all want the same thing – to be loved and to give love!

It’s not enough to just silently and lovingly sing your song of praise to everyone at this proverbial par-tay . There is an invisible, yet very tangible message emanating from all hearts in the room, too, as they tune into your vibration. You have spoken to that power, the source of all that is. Now it is your turn to listen.

Love, listen, and know all is well!
